"My son, do not despise the chastening (discipline) of the Lord." (Hebrews 12:5)
Believers in Jesus are God’s children. Every sickness or trouble is sent by God in love for our good. Let us react to them in such a way that we honour our Heavenly Father, and gain the blessings He intends.
We dishonour God when we think we know better than God and grumble; when we do not learn the lessons that are intended; when we do not accept the Lord’s right to discipline us; and when we do not seek grace to submit cheerfully, or at least silently.
"My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline and don’t give up when He corrects you. For the Lord disciplines those He loves, and punishes each one He accepts as His child." (Hebrews 12:5-6)
