Storing Up Treasure in Heaven (6)

One of things that keep me going during the time of disappointment is thinking about the verse 33, thinking about how He will use the worldly materials for His glory to eternity.

Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys." (Luke 12:33 ESV)

When we get to heaven and looking around, we may meet a person. He may come to you and say that "I came to the church and opened the door. And you gave me a warm welcome, and I got attracted. And I came to know Christ". We can't wait to see what we will have in our investments.

Jesus warns us against greed, against wanting more for ourselves that we need storing up treasure on earth. Instead, do not trust in good, but trust in God, who cares for his creation and his children.

Don't be so preoccupied with the temporary that you lose sight of the eternal. Instead, seek God's kingdom. Invest your time and your resources in that. That's where your heart will be and where your treasure will be on the last day.

¹⁷ As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
¹⁸ They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share,
¹⁹ thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
(1 Timothy 6:17-19 ESV)

เมื่อเราไปยังสวรรค์ และมองไปรอบ ๆ เราอาจจะพบบุคคลหนึ่ง เขาอาจจะมาหาคุณและกล่าวว่า "ผมได้มาที่คริสตจักร เปิดประตู และคุณก็ได้ต้อนรับผมอย่างอบอุ่น ผมรู้สึกประทับใจ และในที่สุดก็ได้มารู้จักพระคริสต์" เราคงจะไม่สามารถรอคอยที่จะเห็นถึงสิ่งที่เราจะได้รับจากการลงทุนทั้งหลายของเรา

พระเยซูทรงเตือนเราเรื่องความโลภ เรื่องการต้องการมากขึ้นเพื่อตัวเราเองจนเราต้องการที่จะสะสมสมบัติบนโลกนี้ แทนที่จะทำเช่นนั้น จงอย่าวางใจในทรัพย์สมบัติ แต่ให้วางใจในพระเจ้า ผู้ซึ่งห่วงใยสิ่งทรงสร้างและบุตรทั้งหลายของพระองค์

Storing Up Treasure in Heaven (5)

AW Tozer says this, "As best a thing as money often is, it yet can be transmuted into everlasting treasure. It can be converted into food for the hungry, and clothing for the poor; it can keep a missionary actively winning lost men to the light of the gospel and thus transmute itself into heavenly values. Any temporal possession can be turned into everlasting wealth. Whatever is given to Christ is immediately touched with immortality."

This is such a contrast, isn't it?

The rich man who possessed many things in this earth had nothing when he was gone. But believers, when they die, they will inherit the treasure stored up for them in the heaven.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
⁴ to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
⁵ who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Peter 1:3-5 ESV)

The rich man made the best investment in his life, didn't he? But Jesus said, don't be the same. Send your money ahead. Use it now for the work of the kingdom because where your treasure is, there your heart be also.

The thing that we invest in, are the thing which occupy us. The money is so much magnetic. Our intention, our interest, and our prayer go to work that thing.

For example, if I plan to buy a gigantic tropical fish tank in the market, I go and buy it, and put the fish in the tank. It's likely that I spend a lot of time thinking about it. I will think about feeding it. I will be concerned with it. Nothing is more than just a tropical fish.

But if I invest money with the works of kingdom, there will be what I'm thinking about, praying about, and interested in. Where your treasure is, there your heart be also.

การสะสมสมบัติในสวรรค์ (5)

³² "Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
³³ Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.
³⁴ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Luke 12:32-34 ESV)

Don't seek after these things. Seek after God's kingdom, and the rest will be added to you.

What does this mean? This means we can give fearlessly in faith.

I like to read about the people who give fearlessly in faith. There are many men that are so rich in this earth, but they choose to invest the treasure into the kingdom. They hugely successful in this world, and yet are far more interested in the next.

God is the Giver. He will give His kingdom to His children. He will give eternal life. Salvation is the gift. So His people are to be givers.

The rich fool kept all his properties in his barns. He never moved them or never mobilized them for any purpose. But Jesus said, don't do the same. Sell them. Use them. Give to the needy. Give to the poor, both the physical needy whom God cares, or and the poor spiritually who have not heard about the gospel of Christ and who have been preoccupied with this world because they know nothing about the next.

One reason is that it is an investment. Provide them to the money bag that will not grow old. By giving away the earthy money, you are investing the heavenly riches, money bag that will not grow old, treasure that will not fail, something that cannot be stolen or corroded.

²⁵ And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
²⁶ If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? (Luke 12:25-26 ESV)

Do not worry! God cares for His creation, and He cares for His children. Your father knows that you need them. Will a father see his children hungry and will not feed them? Will a father see his children unclothed and will not cloth them? If God has already given us eternal lives, can we not trust in Him that He will provide us what we need in our lives?

So we don't need to seek after these things. Instead, we are to seek His Kingdom.

Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you. (Luke 12:31 ESV)

This is the key message. His kingdom continues to grow, endures from generation to generation, and never be destroyed.

At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation. (Daniel 4:34 ESV)

If you look around the tall buildings, and see the famous people, one day they will be all gone. But the kingdom of God will continue to grow and endure forever.

Seek first the kingdom, which is eternal, lasting, and infinite!

Don't be so preoccupied with life that you cannot dwell in eternity.

Don't be so tired or worried about your home that you have no time to think about the eternal dwelling and the mansion Christ has prepared for you.

Don't be so caught up with earthly pleasure that you have no time to anticipate the eternal pleasure at God's right hand, which is the promise to us.

²⁵ มีใครในพวกท่านโดยความกระวนกระวายสามารถต่ออายุของตนให้ยืนนานอีกนิดหนึ่งได้?

And Jesus gave us 2 examples: the ravens (verse 24) and lilies (verse 27)

²⁴ Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!
²⁵ And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
²⁶ If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?
²⁷ Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
²⁸ But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!
²⁹ And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried.
³⁰ For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them.
³¹ Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you. (Luke 12:24-31 ESV)

How wonderful life is. This world is full of creatures. It is not by chance. Some may say that all varieties of the creatures are by chance, but the bible does not say like that. All are designed. God created and invested it.

¹ Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty,
² covering yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent.
³ He lays the beams of his chambers on the waters; he makes the clouds his chariot; he rides on the wings of the wind;
⁴ he makes his messengers winds, his ministers a flaming fire.
⁵ He set the earth on its foundations, so that it should never be moved.
⁶ You covered it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. (Psalm 104:1-6 ESV)

God created the world and lives, and He continued to sustain it. God made the world and He sustained the world which He made.

About the ravens, they are not pretty. They are black and not clean. They eat rotten meats. They are an unclean animal. No one will have them as their pets.

God feeds even this ugly undesirable unclean animal. He cares for the ravens. And do you not think He cares for you, a man or a woman, a boy or a girl, made in His image, created to have dominion over the earth, somebody who can know Him, love Him and worship Him?

Does not God care for you whom He has made, and who He has redeemed at the cross by the life of His Son?

About flowers, they are beautiful. They are in the fields and parks, and so short-lived. They may live for 7 days or 10 days, and they are clothed with beauty. And will He not care for you, in whose heart He has set eternity, whom He invites to share eternal life in the eternal kingdom with Him?

และพระเยซูคริสต์ทรงประทานตัวอย่าง 2 อย่าง: นกอีกา (ข้อ 24) และดอกไม้ (ข้อ 27)

²⁴ จงพิจารณาดูอีกา มันไม่ได้หว่าน ไม่ได้เกี่ยว และไม่ได้มียุ้งหรือฉาง แต่พระเจ้ายังทรงเลี้ยงมันไว้ พวกท่านประเสริฐกว่านกมากทีเดียว
²⁵ มีใครในพวกท่านโดยความกระวนกระวายสามารถต่ออายุของตนให้ยืนนานอีกนิดหนึ่งได้?
²⁶ เพราะฉะนั้นถ้าสิ่งเล็กน้อยยังทำไม่ได้ ท่านยังจะกระวนกระวายถึงสิ่งอื่นทำไมอีกเล่า?
²⁷ จงพิจารณาดูดอกไม้ว่ามันเติบโตขึ้นอย่างไร มันไม่ทำงาน มันไม่ปั่นด้าย แต่เราบอกพวกท่านว่า แม้แต่กษัตริย์ซาโลมอนเมื่อบริบูรณ์ด้วยศักดิ์ศรี ก็ไม่ได้ทรงแต่งพระองค์งามเท่าดอกไม้เหล่านี้สักดอกหนึ่ง

พระเจ้าทรงเลี้ยงแม้แต่สัตว์ที่ไม่น่าพึงประสงค์และเป็นมลทิน พระองค์ทรงห่วงใยอีกา และคุณไม่คิดหรือว่าพระองค์ก็ทรงห่วงใยคุณ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นชายหรือหญิง เด็กชายหรือเด็กหญิง ที่พระองค์ได้ทรงสร้างขึ้นมาตามพระฉายของพระองค์ ให้ครอบครองดูแลทั้งทั้งโลก ผู้ซึ่งสามารถรู้จักพระองค์ รักพระองค์ และนมัสการพระองค์?

พระเจ้าจะมิทรงห่วงใยคุณ ผู้ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงสร้างขึ้นมา และผู้ซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงไถ่ที่ไม้กางเขนด้วยชีวิตของพระบุตรหรือ?

สำหรับดอกไม้ พวกมันสวยงาม อยู่ตามทุ่งนาและสวน และมีชีวิตอยู่ไม่นาน พวกมันอาจจะมีชีวิตอยู่ได้เพียง 7 วัน หรือ 10 วัน และพวกมันก็ได้รับการตกแต่งด้วยความสวยงาม แล้วพระองค์จะไม่ทรงห่วงใยคุณ ผู้ซึ่งมีจิตใจที่พระองค์ทรงใส่นิรันดร์กาล ผู้ซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงเชิญให้รับชีวิตนิรันดร์ในอาณาจักรนิรันดร์ร่วมกับพระองค์หรอกหรือ?

Storing Up Treasure in Heaven (1)

And the question is: "What are we to invest in?" and "How are we to live?". The fact is that we need to eat. How are we to survive in this cruel world if we are not trusting in our wealth and possessions?

²² And he said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on.
²³ For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. (Luke 12:22-23 ESV)

Jesus said to his disciples, "trust in God, not in good."

The rich fool was obsessed about eating, drinking and being merry. What he thought was only about how to satisfy his body.

And Jesus said there was more to life than just eating and clothing your body. Do not be anxious. Do not seek after these things.

To be anxious means to be preoccupied with, to be concerned, to be taken up with these things.

³⁸ Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house.
³⁹ And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching.
⁴⁰ But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me."
⁴¹ But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things,
⁴² but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her." (Luke 10:38-42 ESV)

Martha was anxious about many things. She was preoccupied with temporal things.

¹⁸ And others are the ones sown among thorns. They are those who hear the word,
¹⁹ but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. (Mark 4:18-19 ESV)

The seeds that were sown among thorns were choked by the care and anxiety.

Don't be so preoccupied with temporal material things that you have no time to think of eternal things.

การสะสมสมบัติในสวรรค์

และคำถามก็คือ "แล้วเราจะต้องลงทุนในสิ่งใดเล่า?" และ "เราจะมีชีวิตอยู่ได้อย่างไร?" ความจริงก็คือว่าเราจำเป็นต้องกิน เราจะมีชีวิตรอดอยู่ในโลกที่โหดร้ายนี้ได้อย่างไร หากว่าเราไม่วางใจในความมั่งมีและทรัพย์สินของเรา?

²³ เพราะว่าชีวิตสำคัญยิ่งกว่าอาหาร และร่างกายสำคัญยิ่งกว่าเครื่องนุ่งห่ม" (ลูกา 12:22-23 THSV2011)

พระเยซูตรัสกับเหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ว่า "จงวางใจในพระเจ้า ไม่ใช่ในทรัพย์สิน"

เศรษฐีผู้โง่เขลาได้ถูกครอบงำความคิดด้วยเรื่องเกี่ยวกับการกิน การดื่ม และการรื่นเริง สิ่งที่เคาคิดมีเพียงแค่เพื่อสิ่งที่จะบำเรอร่างกายของเขา และพระเยซูตรัสว่า ชีวิตมีมากกว่าแค่การกิน และการสวมเครื่องนุ่งห่ม จงละความกระวนกระวาย จงเลิกเสาะแสวงหาเพื่อสิ่งเหล่านี้

ความกระวนกระวาย คือ การมีใจหมกมุ่น กังวลใจ การครุ่นคิดเกี่ยวกับสิ่งเหล่านั้น

³⁸ เมื่อพระเยซูกับพวกสาวกเดินทางไป พระองค์ทรงเข้าไปในหมู่บ้านแห่งหนึ่ง และมีผู้หญิงคนหนึ่งชื่อมารธาต้อนรับพระองค์เข้าไปพักที่บ้านของนาง
³⁹ มารธามีน้องสาวชื่อมารีย์ และมารีย์ก็นั่งอยู่ใกล้พระบาทของพระเยซูคอยฟังถ้อยคำของพระองค์
⁴⁰ แต่มารธาวุ่นวายอย่างมากกับการปรนนิบัติ จึงมาทูลพระองค์ว่า "องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า พระองค์ไม่สนพระทัยหรือที่น้องสาวของข้าพระองค์ปล่อยให้ข้าพระองค์ปรนนิบัติอยู่คนเดียว? ขอพระองค์สั่งน้องให้มาช่วยข้าพระองค์ด้วย"
⁴¹ แต่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสตอบนางว่า "มารธา มารธาเอ๋ย เธอกระวนกระวายและร้อนใจหลายอย่างเหลือเกิน
⁴² สิ่งที่จำเป็นนั้นมีเพียงสิ่งเดียว และมารีย์ก็เลือกเอาส่วนที่ดีนั้น ใครจะชิงเอาไปจากเธอไม่ได้" (ลูกา 10:38-42 THSV2011)

มารธากระวนกระวายเกี่ยวกับหลายสิ่งหลายอย่าง เขาหมุ่นอยู่กับสิ่งชั่วคราว

¹⁸ ส่วนพืชที่หว่านลงกลางหนามนั้นได้แก่คนที่ได้ยินพระวจนะ
¹⁹ แล้วความกังวลของโลก และความลุ่มหลงในทรัพย์สมบัติ และความโลภในสิ่งต่างๆ ประดังเข้ามา และรัดพระวจนะนั้น จึงไม่เกิดผล (มาระโก 4:18-19 THSV2011)

เมล็ดพืชที่ตกอยู่กลางหนามนั้น ก็ถูกปิดกั้นด้วยกังวลและความลุ่มหลง

จงอย่าถูกครอบงำด้วยสิ่งทางวัตถุซึ่งจะอยู่เพียงชั่วคราว มากเสียจนไม่มีเวลาคิดถึงสิ่งที่เป็นนิรันดร์

Storing Up Treasure on Earth (3)

Material possessions, told in the scriptures, will always let us down. They will either fade away or break down. Clothes will wear out, cars will rust, CD players will collapse, and computers will crash. Or we will die and depart from them like the fool. Earthly possessions will not satisfy us and will impoverish us in the sight of God.

What is the secret for not being covetous? It is to be satisfied with what you have.

⁶ Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment,
⁷ for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.
⁸ But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.
⁹ But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. (1 Timothy 6:6-10 ESV)

Godliness with contentment is great gain. Be on your guard against covetousness.

การสะสมสมบัติบนโลกนี้ (3)

ทรัพย์สิ่งของได้ถูกกล่าวหลายครั้งในพระคัมภีร์ ว่าจะทำให้เราตกต่ำลง สิ่งเหล่านั้นจะเสื่อมสลายไปในที่สุด เสื้อผ่าจะเก่าลง รถยนต์จะขึ้นสนิม เครื่องเล่นซีดีก็จะพัง และคอมพิวเตอร์ก็จะเสียหาย หรือเราอาจจะตายจากสิ่งเหล่านี้ไป เช่นเดียวกับเศรษฐีผู้โง่เขลาคนนี้ ทรัพย์สมบัติทางโลก ไม่ทำให้เราพึงพอใจ และจะทำให้เรายากจนลงในสายพระเนตรของพระเจ้า

อะไรคือเคล็ดลับในการหลีกเลี่ยงความโลภ? นั่นคือการพึงพอใจในสิ่งที่คุณมี

⁶ ความเคารพรักพระเจ้านำผลกำไรมหาศาลมาให้เฉพาะแก่ผู้ที่พอใจในสิ่งที่ตนมีเท่านั้น
⁷ เราไม่ได้นำสิ่งใดติดตัวเข้ามาในโลก และเราก็นำอะไรออกไปได้
⁸ ตราบใดที่มีอาหารและเครื่องนุ่งห่ม เราก็พอใจแล้ว
⁹ คนที่อยากรวยก็ตกเป็นเหยื่อของการทดลอง ติดกับดักและตกลงไปในตัณหาชั่วร้ายโง่เขลามากมาย ซึ่งทำให้มนุษย์จมลงสู่ความพินาศย่อยยับ
¹⁰ ความรักเงินตราเป็นรากเหง้าของความชั่วร้ายทุกประการ"บางคนเมื่อแสวงหาแต่เงินก็พลัดหลงจากความเชื่อ เป็นเหตุให้ตนเองได้รับความทุกข์เป็นอันมาก (1 ทิโมธี 6:6-10 THSV2011)

ความเคารพรักพระเจ้าด้วยความพอใจ นำผลกำไรมหาศาลมาให้แก่เรา

จงระวังให้ดี และหลีกเลี่ยงจากความโลภทุกอย่าง
