Daily Devotional, April 22
"I will surely do you good." (Genesis 32:12)
This promise is intended for all believers. We don’t know what will happen today, but we know that God superintends every event, and will do us good. He is infinite in wisdom and goodness. We may have troubles and say "Everything is against me." Read about all David’s troubles, and hear him say, "It was good for me, that I was afflicted!" (Psalm 119:71) God will do you good by testing, humbling and proving you. He considers your soul’s welfare.
Look at your trials and say "This also will be blessed to me." Look to the past and sing, "Goodness and mercy have followed me all the days of my life" (Psalm 23:6). Look to the future and rejoice, "The Lord will give that which is good" (Psalm 85:12). Look in every direction, and say, "I will trust and not be afraid" (Isaiah 12:2).
